Xangle offers the possibility to use chromakeying to composite your video with custom branded backgrounds. This feature is accessed using the chromakey tab in the navigation menu on top of the Xangle web app.
Importing background assets
In order to use backgrounds, you will need to provide assets and import them in xangle by placing them in the watermark/background folder.
Assets can have .jpg or .png formats and can be either static (1 frame) or animated.
Each asset must be put in a separate folder in order to be recognized.
Once your images have been properly uploaded, you should be able to see them in the chromakey and branding tab of Xangle web app
Fine tuning chromakey settings
Once your setup is ready and you are happy with your camera settings, you can switch back to chromakey tab and press "Get new picture from camera".
As soon as the picture has been transferred you should see 2 images: the original image (on the left) and the computed image with green screen replaced with the chosen background asset.
The left image can be used to pick the exact chromakey of your backdrop and the 2 threshold sliders are used to adjust the tolerance of the chromakey algorithm.
For example, in the image below, the thresholds are too low and parts of the backdrop (shadow) are not being replaced as they should be:
This can easily be fixed by increasing slightly the threshold of detections.
In general, you will want to avoid soft shadows on the backdrop because they cause ugly green color bleeds. However, when you can't avoid them, the color spill effect can be mitigated by checking the "fix color spill" option.
Generating chromakey video
The chromakey settings are automatically saved.
Once you are satisfied with your settings, you simply need to enable chromakey on the dashboard!
